Beneath the Trees

Bog Oak
Black Ruthenium Plated Sterling Silver
18ct Yellow Gold
6.13ct Circular-Cut Emeralds

A hidden world unfurls in the Beneath the Trees earrings, a delicate portal into the lost indigenous rainforests of Britain. Carved with extraordinary precision, each convex pendant captures polypody ferns, living fossils frozen in time on the forest floor.

Crafted from bog oak, a rare sub-fossilised wood from Britain’s vanished temperate woodlands, these earrings embody both memory and movement. The hand burnishing of the bog oak evokes the inky luminosity of the rocks and roots found beneath the tree canopy. The emeralds frame the painstaking artistry that etches each leaf with microscopic detail.

Beneath the Trees celebrates nature’s infinite variations. Like the unique unfurling of each fern frond, the two earrings are not identical. Delicately curved, to mirror a fern’s ethereal lightness, the backs reveal smooth bog oak, while refined frames of blackened sterling silver and 18 carat gold complete the piece.

These works are a whispered story of lost landscapes, of time suspended, of the intricate beauty that persists just beyond our perception.
