Care & Sizing
NVW
NVW jewellery has been crafted by some of the UK’s finest craftspeople and although each piece has been designed to be worn and made to withstand continuous use, they do still need to be treated with care and respect. Each of the carefully chosen materials used in these NVW pieces need their own care instructions, so please see below for both general and specific care instructions:
General
When not being worn the jewellery should ideally be stored in the bespoke box that it came in, as this has been designed to protect that specific piece. If stored in a jewellery box please protect from the other pieces of jewellery by wrapping in some tissue or a cloth or keeping it in a separate compartment.
Remove your jewellery if you are doing something that could damage or scratch it.
Keep away from chemicals and remove jewellery before cooking, cleaning washing up and bathing.
Please apply all lotions and perfumes before putting on your jewellery as these can sometimes react with the jewellery.
Gold
If the jewellery is exclusively gold it can be washed gently in lukewarm water with some washing up liquid. Soak the jewellery for ten minutes and then carefully clean with a soft bristled toothbrush. Gold can easily scratch so be as gentle as possible. Dry the piece with a microfiber cloth or leave to air dry. Do not, in any circumstance, submerge the jet or wooden jewellery in water. If the gold in these pieces need cleaning please do with a dry, or ever so slightly dampened, microfibre cloth.
Silver (A Call to the Wild)
Silver does naturally tarnish but is easy to clean. It is best to clean silver with a specialist cleaning solution or cloth, making sure it is specifically for silver. You can also use lukewarm water and washing up liquid with a soft toothbrush but do avoid getting the boxwood raven wet. Do not, in any circumstances, immerse this piece in water.
Rhodium plating
Rhodium plating will naturally wear off over time, however perfume, chlorine and cleaning products will speed up this process. We do not accept repairs for worn plating so please take extra care with these pieces. Do not clean in water like the regular gold pieces but gently wipe with a dry microfiber cloth. Do not rub.
Gemstones
You can clean gemstones with lukewarm water and washing up liquid, using a soft toothbrush but avoid getting the jet and wood wet.
Jet
Jet is a fragile material and can break if hit against a hard surface or dropped, so particular care should be taken when handling and wearing the jet pieces. After handling they should be gently laid down, preferably on a soft surface, with the gold frame face down. To clean, wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not, in any circumstances, immerse in water.
Wood
To clean, wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not, in any circumstances, immerse in water.
Oil Paint (Hawthorn Raven)
The paint on this piece has been cured for 6 months and then coated with a protective layer of varnish. So, although the paint is protected, the varnish can get marked. Therefore, extra care needs to be taken when wearing this piece. To clean, wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not, in any circumstances, immerse in water. Avoid spraying with perfume.
Antler
To clean, wipe gently with a dry microfibre cloth. Do not, in any circumstances, immerse in water.
