Natasha Wightman introduced her wilderness-inspired designs over dinner at Chateau Marmont

C Magazine founder Jennifer Smith and Juliet de Baubigny, gathered friends and creatives to celebrate the California launch of artist Natasha Wightman’s NVW fine jewelry line over dinner at Chateau Marmont on Wednesday, October 16. Wightman, who lives in Sussex, designs one-of-a-kind pieces including necklaces and earrings made with precious metals, diamonds, other gemstones, and ancient English materials such as Whitby Jet, moorland boxwood, and bogwood carved by master artisans. At the Los Angeles gathering, she shared her sources of inspiration spanning ancient lands, ravens, folklore, and areas of wilderness, along with a video of the landscapes that inform her collections.

Guests including Alexandra Grant, Elaine lnvin, Sonya Roth, Gregg Renfrew, Jennifer Tilly, Liane Weintraub, Kate Stirling, Katie Mossman, Monique Lhuillier, Anna Malaika Tubbs, Cassandra Thurswell, Natalie Fuller, Nicole Avant, Sutton Stracke, Christine Carmody, and Christine Chiu gathered for a first look at the pieces, one of which was worn recently by performance artist Marina Abramovic. Also on hand was Kate Fleur Young, a London-based sound artist, who gave a live performance pairing sound bowls and vocals promoting reconnection between minds and bodies. Cosima Interiors dreamed up tablescapes that evoked a lush forest thicket. The space brought to mind Wightman’s commitment to keeping traditional crafts alive by designing otherworldly pieces layered with stories from the materials themselves, the people who craft them, and the wearers who bring them our into the world.
